Form of the Month
July is Villanelle and Triolet Month!
This month features two forms because as someone alerted me villanelles are pretty long poems and may be a daunting task to undertake, unlike pantoums which could be many possible lengths.  For that reason, I decided to feature both villanelles and triolets.

A villanelle is a 19 lined poem made up of 5 tercets and a quatrain.  The tercets rhyme aba and the quatrain rhymes abaa, where the a's and the b's are the same throughout.  Two lines, the first lines and third lines of the first stanza, switch off in the job of the last lines of the stanza and in the quatrain form a couplet at the end.  That's the best I could do for a brief description; please see the write-up for more information.

A triolet is a 8 lined poem with two repeated lines.  If the repeated lines are marked as A and B the form would be ABaAabAB.  The write-up hasn't been made yet, but probably will be in the next couple of days.  If you want more information, www.baymoon.com/~ariadne/form/… may be helpful.
